TOFF # 35 Anyone for cake

The challenge over at http://toffchallenge.blogspot.com/ (Octopode) this week is anyone for cake. I love their challenges as they're always something a bit out of the ordinary which need a bit of thinking about!!

I started out with creating a cupcake shape out of mountboard which I then covered in patterned paper from my stash as a base. I then applied distress inks in various colous but kept the top n bottom parts very different to mimic the icing. I added various marks with silver acrylic paint (used a credit card to make some horizontal lines to give Marie Antoinette something to stand on so she wasn't floating! I used some Debbi Moore shimmer spray to mimic the icing running down the sides of the cake.

My marie Antoinette image was coloured with a mix of promarkers and spectrum noir pens and I added stickles highlights to 'bling' her up a bit - Can't have a Queen without bling lol! The sentiment was computer generated and I chose the infamous words which she apparantly never actually said as they were written quite a while before she was anywhere near the throne of France!!!! - Let them Eat Cake ( supposed to have been said by her when she was told the peasants were revolting as they had no bread to eat!!!) The' cherry on the cake' was created with stickles.

Just Dreaming Of You.......

I made this card to fit in with the challenges on http://ilovepromarkers.blogspot.com/ and http://teddybochallenge.blogspot.com/ which was Time and Swirls n Pearls respectively. I just love the cute teddy bea image from teddy bo.com. Both images were coloured with promarkers and added to the background card which was created on the serif craft artist software. I liked the way I was able to fade the clock image into the background and add the swirls. The sentiment was printed on the computer.

A close-up of the lovely Bea, who was 'blinged up' with stickles glitter glue along with the swirls! The whole thing was further decorated with pearls and a pearl brad on the right hand corner to finish. Hope you like the 'dreamy quality' of the card. Hugs, Jayne xxx

The Octopode Friday challenge(TOFF) #34

The challenge over at http://toffchallenge.blogspot.com/ this week is Fancy Dress! Mmmmmm bit different so I had to get my thinking cap on lol.
I've been collecting digistamps from Octopode for only a couple of weeks now n haven't had a chance to use any of them yet so.... here goes.I printed out Wendy and Cpt Hook from the Peter Pan set and used Wendy as the base. I 'dressed ' her in Cpt, Hooks coat, hat n hook then coloured it all in using promarkers. I let Wendy keep her own dress on under the coat!. I used papermania kraft card for the base of the tag and coloured it with distress inks, Debbi Moore spray shimmer inks and acrylic paint through sequin waste. I used personal expressions stamps(inkblot and distress lines) and further distressed the whole thing using tape to peel some of the top layer off in places.

A close-up of Cpt. Wendy. Like the way her hat 'hangs' off the edges of the tag.
I mounted the tag onto mount board for stabillity and used a crop-o-dile to insert an eyelet to hold various fibres. The sentiment was hand written on plain kraft card edged with distress ink. Wendy was added using a piece of torn music washi tape for her to stand on. LOVE the Octopode digistamps... they're soooo different!

Kenny K's crafty girlz Challenge

The challenge over @ http://kennykkraftygirlzchallenges.blogspot.com/ this week is 'emboss it'.
I used cpt Locke from Kenny K. which I love. I used a papermania embossing folder on silver mirri card as a background and the heart was embossed with a Tim Holtz folder and lightly sanded.Pleased with the effect. The image was coloured with promarkers and highlighted using a quickie glue pen and holographic foil.

The sentiment was hand written on kraft card and cut out word by word to add a different effect.

Spring is in the Air

The challenge this week @http://ilovepromarkers.blogspot.com/ Is nature. I decided to go through my huge stash n use some of it up!
As it turned out much of my card was using freebies! The image was a mag freebie - part of a set of pre stamped images from Lili of the valley.... love it and it fits right in with the season... soooo cute. I coloured it in with my promarkers. The  inside was decorated with paper from crafters companion which was free with this month's making cards mag and I put a strip down the side on the front of the card. This was edged with a lace sticker to finish it off.
I used garden twine to hold the sentiment in place which was....... you guessed it..... another mag freebie lol.  I edged the aperture with peeloffs and added paper flowers to the bottom right hand side and  a cute wooden ladybird embellishment. The end result? A fresh, spring-like card for any occasion.

Love is in the Air :)

The challenge on http://ilovepromarkers.blogspot.com/ was a photo of loads of brightly coloured buttons , the theme at http://stlukescharitycardschallenge.blogspot.com/ was love n lace and at http://teddybochallenge.blogspot.com/ is 'love is in the air' so I combined all of them !!!

The image was another of those adoreable bears fromhttp://teddybo.com/, Teddy Bo n Teddy Bea, coloured with promarkers. I LOVE these bears they're just sooooo cute. I made a rocking stepper blank and decorated it with various papers from my stash to make it look like the bears were snuggled up on a seat.

I finished the edges off with fine peeloffs and stamped the sentiment onto a heart shaped label. To finish off I added 'with all  of my heart' in my own handwriting and made some button and lace 'flowers'....... could be used just to let someone know you love them...... not just for valentines day!

Feb's Journal Page

Here's my February page for the Kate Crane Calender challenge. Take a look at http://thekathrynwheel.blogspot.com/ Sorry about the quality of the pic but I had to use my mobile once again as it wouldn'y fit on my scanner lol!!
I had such fun creating it n am quite chuffed that it's actually ready on the 1st of the month !
I realise the whole hearts thing is really corny but I just couldn't help myself.... I'm a big softy at heart lol.
The background was done by spraying the whole pages librally (in the garden!) with shimmer sprays fromhttp://www.debbimoore.co.uk/. They are fab as they're really vivid clours and all have a different coloured shimmer in them... gorgeous. I let some of it run down the pages and stamped the background with various stamps using distress inks. I made the 'days' from different patterned papers and used a home made template to cut the heart shapes. It took ages but worth the extra effort!

The 'heart girl' was a doodle round a face from a magazine...not perfect but it was my first attempt ...I'm sure I'll improve with practise. I coloured her in with promarkers and added stamped wings from Tattered Angels and a couple of hearts cut from Debbi Moore patterned paper.

The heart stamp was a freebie from the craft stamper. Love the 'tatty' appearance. Coloured with distress inks and the wings were a digistamp fromhttp://www.wonderlandstamps.co.uk/ which I really love. The company is fairly new so she hasn't very many images at the mo but they are FAB, especially if you're into the whole steampunk look.
The borders were cut fron beige card and decorated with various stamps, stickers and rub-ons. Really pleased with the overall look of my page AND......... all on the first of the month too!......Not that I'm bragging or anything LOL  just not used to being sooooo organised!!

Pop on over to http://teddybochallenge.blogspot.com/ for a chance to win this fab blog candy prize but hurry...... there's only a few dayz left to enter.......... Gorgeous teddy stamps and digistamps but be warned..... they're addictive lol xxx
