Splodgeaway Guest Designer

Woo hoooo I'm lucky enough to have been selected as a guest designer for the FAB Splodgeaway. Although my cards were recently shown on tv when Tom (mr Splodgeaway) was on create and craft this is my first project to be featured on the Splodgeaway Blog! The theme was G for Gold.
Pop on over to http://splodgeaway.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/golden-trelis.html to find out how I made it and have a look at the fab work of the rest of the Design Team. Thanx for looking. Hugz, Jayne xxx

Texture

This card was created for a challenge set for an application for the DT @ Creative Expressions! I LOVE the Sam Poole stamps from Creative expressions and use them often so this was a perfect opportunity for me . :)
I started out with an A5 card blank made from silver mirricard and began on the background.I used white card for this and added green and blue distress inks as a base. I stuck mostly to green and blue, adding loads of different layers using spray inks, acrylic paint and stickles glitter glue.  Many of the layers were done using empty packaging as masks.... all circles! One of the last layers was gesso coloured with spray dye and scraped through sequin waste with a credit card. I then sprayed more inks to blend it in a little and finished it off with the 'ghosting' technique of water through a circle mask and dried off with paper towel! That was the messy part finished! Once dry I cut it to size and rounded all the corners of the card and background.
I embossed a piece of mirricard with a Tim Holtz folder and only used small pieces to add texture without overpowering the rest of the card.

My main image is a Sam Poole stamp from Creative Expressions that I stamped onto book print and paper-pieced with patterned paper from papermania. I coloured the belt, shoes, figure and hair with promarkers and used stickles on the wings and pattern on the dress before adhering it to my card with sticky pads. The bird fom the same stamp set was stamped onto patterned paper and liquid pearls used for his eye.
The sentiment from papermania was stamped, cut out and distressed with the same colours as the base and promarkers used with stickles to add a bit more texture and 'glitz'. I used 2 small bows to add the final touches and 'tied' it in using the same stickles I used on the sentiment. I had great fun creating this card.....love getting messy! Thanx for looking. Going round in Circles

Poor Bo Peep has been running around in circles looking for her lost sheep but don't worry she's found him lol! At http://toffchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/ this week the theme is 'circles'. Here's my entry.
I started with an A4 piece of card folded in half and made a 'rocker ' card , cut freehand. The background was created using various distress inks, spray inks and loads of different circle 'masks'..... many made from empty packaging! The final layer was created using gesso coloured with a little spray dye and scraped through sequin waste using a credit card! I like the depth all these layers have created. I then cut 2 circular frames from patterned paper from my stash and 1 circle and used these  to mount my image onto.
My image is Little Bo Peep, one of my fave digistamps from octopode......... Her sheep is just soooo quirky and cute!!
I coloured them both with promarkers and finished them off by adding touches of liquid pearls and some adhesive gems to the sheep!
The edge of the background was tidied up with peeloffs and the sentiment from creative expressions was stamped directly onto the card . The whole thing was finished off with a small ribbon bow at each top corner and a liquid pearl dot in the middle of each one ! Thanx for looking. Hugz, Jayne xxx

Black, White and Green all over !

Good morning all. Over at Teddy Bo Towers (http://teddybochallenge.blogspot.co.uk/) this week the theme is Black White and 1 other. I came across a project in a craft mag this week which showed how to colour images in black n white - perfect for this challenge ! I had a go and it didn't turn out exactly as it was in the mag but I quite like the effect anyway....... something I aim to keep trying till I get it right lol.
I used the cute Teddy Bo with a parcel that I bought last christmas and I have used him again and again for all sorts of occasions! I coloured him using a mix of promarkers and spectrum noir pens. The topper was cut using Nellie Sneddon???? dies and my grand calibur. The background paper was a freebie last year from my minds eye! I added a sentiment from hotp and added some black and white card candy from craftwork cards to add more interest. I finished with a hand tied bow  AND my latest new toy........liquid pearls!!! Yes I know they've been around for ages but I've never tried them before! I saw Annette Lee  using them at Suzicraft recently and decided to have a go and I LOVE them ..... thanx Annette!
I used black liquid pearls for the holly berries on the sentiment and also for Bo's eyes and nose.... it gives real definition to him n I love it!!! Thanx for looking . Hugz, Jayne xxx

His 'n' Hers

Over @ http://ilovepromarkers.blogspot.co.uk this week the theme is 'vintage'. Mind you I've left it late - in by the skin of my teeth as it closes today!! I spent the afternoon at Suzicraft again yesterday and made these his n hers vintage tags while I was there.
The background was created using Splodgeaway's fab masks with versermark and gold and copper mica powders onto black card....... produced a dramatic effect ! I added 'metal' embellishments  made using metal magic from Debbi Moore and some custom made stamps I've had for ages. The ladies says Style and the man's Elegance.
The main images are stamps from kanban which I coloured with my promarkers and added touches of foiling. The man was coloured with various shades of fawns and browns with touches of burgundy to match the ladies image.. I added a metal clockface from creative expressions (from Suzicraft- love them!) to finish I added 3 card candy from craftwork cards (also from Suzicraft)
I coloured the female image with red and bugundy with touches of grey and added gold foiling . To finish I added 3 card candy in red and gold.(The key charm was off a handbag charm I picked up ages ago on my travels!)
I added various fibres to each tag to match with the theme and colourscheme.

What a Lovely Day !

I would like to say a big thankyou to Suzicraft in Stockton for a lovely day yesterday where I spent the whole afternoon chatting and crafting! Suzi n Tom were away at create and craft but Sue kept us supplied with teas n coffees and kept us entertained soooo thanx Sue xx
While I was there I managed to make these 2 cards, despite all the chatting I did lol.
I started with a man's card ,which I always seem to find tricky. The background was built up on white card using distress inks and the FAB FAB FAB Splodgeaway board. It makes blending and brayering inks sooooo much easier and gives a lovely smooooooooth finish as you can see from my card! I also used Splodgeaway steampunk masks which I love. Pop over to http://splodgeaway.blogspot.co.uk/ to see their great range of masks and the fab board.
The main image was a stamp from kanban which I coloured with spectrum noir pens. I am used to working with promarkers but decided to try these instead..... lovely range of colours. The ticket stamp was from papermania and the cogs and the sentiment were from creative expressions.

My second card , again, has a very layered background using the splodgeaway mat and distress inks, this time producing a soft, dreamy quality. Again I used splodgeaway masks which you can see faintly in the background. I overstamped using the same distress inks and creative expressions stamps and also some stamps from 7 gypsies.
The main image was created using a  creative expressions stamp and paper piecing technique. (I think the papers were from Wild Rose Studio)The large butterfly (creative expressions) and small butterflies( 7 gypsies) were stamped, cut out, decorated and adhered to the card to create more dimension. The sentiment is from creative expressionsas well.
Had a FAB day and enjoyed making my cards. Hope you enjoy them too! Hugz, Jayne xx

My August Pages

Well here's my August  page and it's only the 2nd lol. Actually it was done yesterday but I was poorly and didn't get round to posting it :(
This month I decided to go for a seaside theme and painted the background with sand, ocean blue and white acrylics. I used masks and stamps to add depth. (especially pleased with the swirl stamp I used along the bottom to make the 'sea'.) I tore a 'sun' out of crafty individuals paper to put the month title on.
I drew the mermaid myself but used the head of Octopode's Elizabeth the first as I'm rubbish at drawing faces and I love, love, love their digistamps! I added lots of stickles to her tail and some adhesive pearls to finish her off.

I added to the seaside feel with some shells that I had drawn and collaged on. The 'days' were cut from paper from my stash (I think it was from papermania) Like the fresh feel of my pages this month. Pop over tohttp://thekathrynwheel.blogspot.co.uk to see some of the other FAB entries.
